Fun fact Friday, five facts about Star Wars you may not know.

Happy Friday! I don’t know about you guys but it’s been a long week for me and man am I glad it’s at its end. Anyway, check out this week’s fun facts below.

I loved you.

As if the duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan in Revenge of the Sith wasn’t heartbreaking enough there is a deleted scene that is sure to make you cry. The scene where Obi-Wan defeats Anakin was originally a bit longer and had additional dialogue between the two. If you have seen the prequels and even more so The Clone Wars then you understand the bond Anakin and Obi-Wan shared. After everything that happened between them on Mustafar and even after everything Anakin had done, Obi-Wan’s first impulse is to reach out to help him and Anakin’s first impulse is to reach out to Obi-Wan for help. Anakin’s cry for help (together with his outstretched hand) is actually left intact in the movie, even though the sound was muted. You can see Hayden Christensen’s lips clearly pronouncing the words.

Anakin Skywalker

I love you but I can’t help you.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

According to the book, The Making of Star Wars Revenge of the Sith by J. W. Rinzler, after Anakin asks Obi-wan to save him, George Lucas asked Ewan McGregor to say “I will not…” softer, almost to himself because after Anakin burst into flames it’s as if Obi-Wan was talking to a dead person. That’s why he also suggested, to drive home this point, that McGregor changed the words in the script to the past tense “I loved you”. Ewan agreed but pointed out that his subsequent line would have to change to “But I could not help you.” Lucas also explained that what Obi-Wan is basically saying to Anakin is “you were my only hope – you blew it. Now we don’t have any hope.” BRB going to go cry before we move on to the next face.

Akul-tooth headdress.

The headdress worn by Ahsoka Tano and Shaak Ti were made from Akul teeth. An Akul-tooth headdress was a type of headdress worn by Togrutas. The headdress was sported by males and females who had slain an akul by themselves.

The akul was a large quadrupedal, carnivorous predator with orange fur native to the grasslands of the planet Shili. They were the only creature that the Togrutas feared, and could attack and destroy settlements and villages. For this reason, it was often hunted by the Togrutas, a dangerous task given its ferocious nature and remarkably keen senses. Like the Nexu, they killed their prey by biting onto them and shaking violently until their necks were broken. Such was the power of their jaws that it was nearly impossible for any normal humanoid to break their hold. – Source Wookiepedia.

Torture.

Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca) said Adam Driver was so convincing in the deleted torture scene that he was actually intimidated by him and he believes the scene turned out too dark to be out in the movie. Joonas described filming the scene as very tough and intense for him as both Chewie’s actor and mentally because Adam had psyched himself to be a real monster through it all with the cameras on or off. If your curious about the scene you can read what when down in the pictures of the Rise of Skywalker novel below.

Star Wars and Other Galactic Funk

Star Wars and Other Galactic Funk is a disco album by Meco and was released in 1977. The album uses various musical themes from the Star Wars soundtrack arranged as instrumental disco music. “Star Wars Theme/Cantina Band”, a single from the album, reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 on October 1, 1977, holding to that position for two weeks.

Ain’t nothin but a Jedi party

Before his death, Tupac Shakur reportedly auditioned for the role of Mace Windu. Accord to Rick Clifford, an engineer at Death Row Records, Tupac told him he had done a reading for George Lucas. Ultimately the role went to Samuel L Jackson but I’ve got to say I think I would have enjoyed seeing Tupac play the role of Mace as well.

Well, that’s it for this week’s fun facts, I hope you enjoyed them and maybe even learned something new. Which one was your favorite or maybe even surprised you? Let me know in the comments.
