Earlier this year as I was scrolling through my Twitter feed I came across a picture from Galaxy’s Edge, it was the new Ben Solo lightsaber. Most days I’m a little sad I don’t live closer to the parks but I was especially sad on this day. Fast forward to November 25th and I was fortunate enough to be able to snag one off of the shopDisney website. Today it arrived and I’m excited to tell you guys about it.
The hilt is made out of a combination of plastic and metal. I’m not sure of the exact weight but it’s a bit heavier than I expected. If you own the Ahsoka Tano TCW hilts it’s heavier than those. It feels nice in your hands though so it’s not too heavy. The bottom is red and the top near where you put in the blade is blue, purple, and gold. When you turn it on the blade illuminates blue and it is complete with sound effects. I noticed if you tap the blade hard enough the blade has a flash of green where you hit it. I wouldn’t suggest dueling with these as I’ve been told cast members don’t recommend it.
To activate the lightsaber you slide the switch up which will cause the ignition sound and then from there a hum. One detail I found to be neat is when you turn the lightsaber on the blade lights from the bottom up and when you turn it off it goes from the top down just as you would see on a real lightsaber. Each of these hilts comes in a cloth-lined case. The Crest of the Jedi order is on the front of the case which also acts as a button to open it.
The hilt is priced at $139.99 and the blade $49.99. The hilts have since sold out on the shopDisney website but you may still be able to find them at Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities. If you’re not already be sure to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram as I post upcoming releases as soon as I hear about them.
Overall, I’m really happy with this lightsaber and I’m excited to add it to my collection. I hope if this inspires you to get one of you’re own you enjoy it as much as I do.
